Quench Your (Skin’s) Thirst (Loving You series)

On a hot summer day, a splash of water is refreshing to the senses. Year round, giving your skin a “splash” of natural toner can be just as refreshing, and soothing. I previously shared info for creating your own steam facial, which also helps maintain healthy moisturized skin. Ensuring your skin is properly hydrated is just as important as the recommended eight glasses of water daily. Using cotton balls or a light spray bottle mist after cleansing or any time of day will refresh and pamper your skin.

Here are a few recipes for toners according to skin type:
-Normal to oily: 1 cup chilled lemon or peppermint tea
-Normal to dry: 1/2 cup rose water + 1 Tablespoon vegetable glycerin
-Itchy/rashy: 1 teaspoon crushed fennel seeds + 1 cup boiled water, steeped 10 minutes and chilled
-All: 1 cup chilled chamomile tea*

*Especially useful for moisturizing dehydrated skin during dry winter months.

Although these are natural toners, as with all other skin recommendations, consult a dermatologist if you have a skin condition that requires treatment.
